BRA Conducts Bank Account ‘Penny Test’ Verification Ahead of Refund Payments

(Bridgetown, October 6, 2026) The Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) advises taxpayers that it is conducting small-value verification (“penny test”) payments to bank accounts registered in TAMIS.

These test payments are being made before processing Personal Income Tax (PIT) refunds and Reverse Tax Credit (RTC) payments. This exercise will help ensure that refunds and other payments are credited to the correct accounts to prevent unnecessary delays.

Taxpayers who receive a small deposit from the BRA should not be alarmed. The deposit is part of the account-verification process and is not the taxpayer’s actual refund or RTC payment.

The BRA appreciates taxpayers’ cooperation as it works to improve the efficiency and security of its payment processes.
