BRA Launches Public Entertainment Portal
(BRIDGETOWN, June 12, 2024) The Barbados Revenue Authority (the Authority) continues to expand its online services, with the launch of a Public Entertainment Portal. The portal is designed to enhance engagement and improve compliance with entertainment sector stakeholders. It features digital application forms, online payment facilities and access to information to assist event promoters, service providers, and entertainment venue owners with fulfilling regulatory obligations.
Revenue Commissioner, Louisa Lewis-Ward highlighted the portal's timely arrival during the 2024 Crop Over season.
"Barbados has a vibrant entertainment industry and Crop Over is one of the most active of event seasons for the year, so we are delighted to add the public entertainment portal to our suite of online services. As we continue with our ongoing digital transformation thrust, this is part of our strategy for enhancing both service delivery and compliance,” she said.
“The Public Entertainment Portal is a major step in fostering a more streamlined interaction with the Authority. It is configured to make navigating the regulatory requirements process easier for promoters and event venue owners to register their events and entertainment venues respectively.”
To assist in the transition from paper-based applications to the online platform, the Commissioner noted that the Authority will continue to engage with stakeholders, to facilitate demonstrations, provide frequently asked question guides, video tutorials, and identify dedicated contact persons for public entertainment. This is to ensure that people feel assured and supported during this transition.
