BRA Supports Financial Literacy Workshop for Young Women
Bridgetown, Barbados — The Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) was honoured to participate in the “I Am a Girl” Financial Literacy Workshop 2025, held recently at the Central Bank of Barbados. The event brought together bright young female leaders for a day of mentorship, education, and empowerment.
Hosted as part of the “I Am a Girl” initiative, the workshop focused on building financial awareness among adolescent girls, with special emphasis on practical skills and confidence-building tools. Representatives from the Authority were on hand to lead engaging sessions on TAMIS, business taxation, and the role of taxes in national development.
“It was an inspiring day filled with meaningful conversations and opportunities to connect with the next generation of young women who are full of potential,” said Andrea Phillips, of the BRA’s Tax Operations Unit. “We are proud to contribute to initiatives that not only educate but uplift young girls to become financially empowered leaders.”
Participants explored real-world applications of taxation, asked insightful questions, and gained a deeper understanding of how public revenue systems affect their everyday lives. The sessions blended education with encouragement — reinforcing the message that financial literacy is a foundation for sustained independence and success.
The Authority remains committed to supporting youth development through public education and outreach, and views such collaborations as essential to the island’s progress.
